Will of Giles Badger.

The will of Giles badger of Newbury was proved in the Ipswich court 28:7:1647. The following copy is taken from the record contained in the Ipswich Deeds, Volume 1, leaf 33, the orignal being missing. -- 

The 29th day of June in the yeare or our Lord 1647 I Giles Badger of Newbury being ƒick in body but of pfect memory thankes be given to god And I doe ordaine & make my laƒt will & Teƒtamt in mann & forme as followeth firƒt I give & bequeath my ƒoule to god & my body to the earth to be buried in hope to be raiƒed againe in the reƒurreccon by Jesus Chriƒt my ƒaviour ƒecondly I give & bequeath to my wife two parts of my eƒtate in ƒhe remaine vnmarried & my will is that my child ƒhould have one part the which part my will is ƒhould be paid to my ƒonne when he is 18 yeares of age the benefitt of it to be improved for bringing vp vntill he be 18 yeares of age Likewiƒe my will is that if my wife doe marry againe that then my wife ƒhall have the one halfe & my ƒonne the other halfe to be paid to him when he is 18 yeares of age and ƒoe likewiƒe the benefit of it to be improved for his maintanance. Likewiƒe I doe deƒire my chriƒtian frends my father Greenleff Daniel Perce & Henry Short & Richard Knight to diuide my etate betweene my wife & child.
