1756 New York Colonial Indenture

243-year old deed/indenture  James ALEXANDER leases to John THOMPSON a tract of land at Rocksilieu (?) called "Lott No. 31", for a period of six years. The person I bought this item from tells me that this was in the Albany, NY area. There are certainly members of old New York families mentioned in the document contents. The lot is bounded by land owned by Ebenezer DOUD and Josiah OGDEN. Signed by James ALEXANDER and witnessed by William MARTIN (signs with his mark) and Joseph WEBB. One interesting aspect of this indenture is that the lessee is obligated to plant an orchard on the land with "at least one apple tree for every three acres".
