Massachusetts Documents 20 Revolutionary War Period Document, a note
from a Constable (Warwick, MA) requesting payment, dated Aug. 26, 1781. The body reads as
follows: The reverse bears Cobb's endorsement for payment received.
Dartmouth MA 1749 This Document is a memorandum for Judith Fuller Single Woman of Dartmouth in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in New England to set sureties for her Recognizance to appear at the Court of The General Sessions of the Peace Then and there on his Majesty's behalf to PROSECUTE HER COMPLAINT AGAINST JEREMIAH BENNIT JR OF DARTMOUTH aforesaid LABOURER FOR HAVING CARNEL KNOWLEDGE OF HER BODY ABOUT YE MIDDLE OF APRIL LAST PAST BEGETTING HER WITH A CHILD: as per said Complaint in Court will appear. This is Judith Fuller bringing Jeremiah Bennit to Court for Support.
Rehoboth MA 1705: This Document has His Majesty answering the Complaint of Lt. Joseph Brown of Rehoboth in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in New England that HE HAD BEEN OVERATED BY THE SELECTMEN OF SAID IN SEVERAL RATES AND THAT HE HAD GOIN TO THEM THE SAID SELECTMEN AND COULD OBTAIN NO RELIEF although he desired the same of them. Therefore these are in His Majesty's name to Will and require you to Summon the above Selectmen of your Town that they Appear at this Present Court of Quarter Sessions now sitting in Bristol for ye County forewith with all convenient Speed: To answer said complaint & to that end to bring their Several Lists of Assessments by them made that Relate to said Complaint, Fail not herein to make return of ye Writt & Damage therein as the Law directs.
Little Compton 1707: This Document has The Constables of Little Compton under the orders of Joseph Church Justice (Brother to the Famous Indian Fighter Col Benjamin Church)issuing a WARRANT TO SEIZE ZARKEY ALLEN, HENRY HOAD'S WIFE & THEIR NEGROMAN ALLEN HOAD UPON SUSPICTION OF KILLING A MARE OF RICHARD BILLING. For Complaint that on the 21st day of this instant in the Night had there Stable Doors broke open and their two Mares Taken out of said Stable and one of the said Mares was found near Henry Hoads House Wounded so that she Died before they could get her Home and she saith that she hath Suspicion that it was done by Henry Hoad's Wife or Their Negroman or Zack Allen or all Three of them. In Her Majesty's name upon site Seize their Body's and Carry them before the Quarters Session and if over bring them before me or some other Justice that they may be pursuaded with as the Law Directs FAIL NOT AS YOU WILL ANSWER AT YOURE UTMOST PERIL.
MA 1698: Watermark with A Nice Thomas Leonard Personal Seal. This Document is for Samual Talbuts Recognizance that he appear before the Justices of the County at the next Quarter Session to be held at Bristol in the Massachusetts Bay Colony TO ANSWER FOR HIS COMMITTING FORNICATION WITH HIS WIFE BEFORE MARRIAGE and abide by and perform the Orders of the Court. On the Bottom of this Document it Reads Samual Talbut above Mentioned being Called in Court THREE TIMES & NOT APPEARING HIS RECOGNIZANCE TO BE VOID. (Samuel Talbut)

Rowley, MA, 1711 A written legal document found in Sussex, England. The document is by two brothers, Jonathan Pickard and Francis Pickard, acknowledging receipt of their deceased Grandmother's estate, from their Uncle Samuel Pickard who appears to have been the executor of the estate. Also, to release 'Grandmother Pickard' of any debts or claims against her by the two brothers.
