Bridgewater Mass

This early deed from Bridgewater Mass is dated 1748. It is a deed from Joseph Edson to his son James Edson. He is deeding lots of land that he owns over to his son. One of those lots is described as follows: 36 acres on Beaver Dam Plain (so called) and also my half of ye fourth lot in ye third share on ye South side of the four mile line. Another lot is described as going 70 rods and a half to a white oak tree in ye four mile line and thence North forty five rods and 12 feet etc. Other names appear to be a Samuel Whitman and a Hayward.

(Revolutionary War) Partly printed document signed, 1 page, Dec 21, 1778, 7"X5", Port of Falmouth, State of Massachusetts-Bay, authorization for an American ship to sail. Reads in part, "...Joesph Knights Master of the Schoo(ner) Chance...is hereby permitted to take on Board... any Articles, the exportation of which is not prohibited by Congress..." Signed by Thomas Clark, Naval Officer.
