1804 piece of Maine Territory history... Salmon Chase court document

Colonial Maine Territory letter (period copy) from The Reverend Jonathan Rogers of Kittery asking his Creditors to make an allowance on his debts due to hard times... Other names include Bartlett, Smith, Emery, Macy.

Early Deed For Sale of Land, dated June 1, 1803. It is for property in Portland, Maine (then a part of Massachusetts) sold by Shirley Erving to Martin Brimmer. Body of the document reads in part as follows:

KNOW all Men by these Presents,
That I Shirley Erving of Portland in the County of Cumberland Physician~~
in consideration of the sum of Two thousand seven hundred dollars paid to me by Martin Brimmer of Roxbury in the County of Norfolk Esq. ~~the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, do hereby give, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto said Martin Brimmer his heirs and assigns forever a certain lot of land with the buildings thereon lying in Portland aforesaid; bounded as follows viz. beginning at a stake standing in the southwesterly side of Federal Street, said stake being south sixty one degrees west five rods and one third of a rod distant from the corner made by the southeasterly side of Federal Street, and southwesterly side of Fiddle Street and from said stake running south sixty one degrees west fifty five feet & a half more or less thence Southeasterly one hundred & thirty six feet; thence northeasterly sixty feet more or less to land belonging to Anthony Fernald thence northwesterly to the bounds first mentioned being a part of the lots of land I purchased of Elizabeth Winslow & Sarah T. Waldo~~

Shirley Erving was the Grandson of John Erving

1877 Deed documenting the sale of land from Nathaniel Farier to Charles Stevens, Jr. in Kennebunk, York County, Maine. with 2 paper seals and the signature of W. J. Moody, the Justice of the Peace.  Wife Alice also mentioned.

1875 Maine deed in which Charles Stevens of Kennebunk conveys land to John E Bearse. There are 7 signatures on the document including 2 with red paper seals as well as the signature of S. E. Bryant, a trial judge. Wife Nancy Stevens is mentioned, as well as William Town(e), Samuel Town(e), Jacob Perkins, John Fiske, S. E. Bryant.

HENRY A. S. DEARBORN (1783-1851), General during the War of 1812, commanded the defenses of Boston. He succeeded his father as Collector of the Port of Boston. Manuscript document, signed "H Dearborn", as Collector at York District, Maine. In part, "...to have the ship, platform & dwelling soon repaired immediately on Boon Island." Sent to J Bradbury
