210 year-old deed from Kittery, an historic coastal Maine town. The Emerys are one of Kittery's oldest families. This deed is dated 1789. Zachariah EMERY, husbandman, of Kittery, ME, for 30 pounds, paid to him by Hannah EMERY of Kittery, single woman and spinster, grants Hannah EMERY the 1 & half part of his homestead in Kittery. Bound by land of son James EMERY, James GOWEN, Caleb EMERY, and Ebenezer HEARD. (Note that there were several Emery/Gowen marriages.) Witnessed by John Bartlet and Alexander GOLD. Signed Jan 27, 1789. Recorded at York County, Maine in April, 1789.
