Jan 15 Quarter night at Basses; gathered 4 p 9 s 9 d

Feb 7 Mr. Scutts sailed for England.  I had a pair of summer and a pair
of winter shoes this month, of Sterns, at 10 s a peece, on Mr. Warham's
account, and a pair mended for Betty 2 s.

Feb 24 Great storm of wind and haill; wind att north, ye tide rises in
Union St. as high up as Mr. Hunt's house...in ye middle of ye
street...to ye filling many sellers & loss of abundance of treasure, &
spoyling a great deal more.

Mar 3 Quarter night att Deacon Williams'.   33 p 16 s 9 d gathered.  Mr.
Wadsworth preached from 13 Hebrews 16.  I took for 4 persons, namely;Lerey, Croxford, Willoughby, Keyes, 7-6 each.
Jery's mistress delivered of a daughter.

Mar 5 Day of fast att Mr. Coleman's church for ye rising generation.
Mr. Foxcroft prayed in ye afternoon.  Mr. Coleman preached from 1 Chron.29.

Mar 8 On ye 8, Mr. David Stoddard dyed of consumption, buried on ye 13.

Mar 11 Mollly wheler brought to bed of her first child a daughter.

Mar 14 A general fast.

Mar 17 On ye 17 day Mrs. Dawsett dyed in a fitt, suddenly, in a few
hours, having fallen on ye floor, and spoke no more, taken at 10 or 11
on Satterday, & dyed at 3 in ye Sabbath morning.

Mar 26 Mr. Vrin broke his leg.

Mar 30 I heard of ye death of Mr. Gippson's eldest son ye minister at
Penopsecutt (Maine) at ye Eastward...he went with ye army (this would be the French & Indian War).  On ye 30th, about 5 o'clock in ye morning, afier in Dr. Cook's buildings, near ye long wharf, 7 or 8 tenements burnt
out, as Mr. Buttlop, Salter, Man, Mayo and others.

Mar 31 Mr. Waldron came home from Noroth Carolina.

Apr 1 Mr. Powell's house set on fier by a negro.

Apr 7 Mrs. Saunders' daughter Smith dyed.

Apr 10 Mr. Frissell dyed suddainly.

Apr 11 Israel Walker dyed suddainly, having been in a fitt, altlhough
sometime afore sick.

Apr 12 Mr. Bridg, ye taylor's house sett on fier, and fier laid in
several other places ye same day, viz. Judg Sewalls, Shrimptons, Hobbs,
ye French Doctor's & in the South Meeting or Milk St.   On ye 12th old
Mrs. Greenfill dyed.

Apr 14 Daniel Holebrook, Minister at Newberry, dyed taken 14, dyed 19,buried 20.

Apr 15 Mr. Miles, ye church minister, laid the first stone att ye new
North Church of England.  (Mr. Samuel Myles of King's Chapel)
Apr 16 On Tuesday night, 16 day, a military watch began, on account of
ye fieres of ye town.

Apr 17 Mr. Green's printhouse chamber attempted to be set on fier and
on...

Apr 18 Mr. Holebrook's house attempted also.

Apr 21 Colonell Dyer was buryed.

Apr 25 Mrs. Walldron delivered of a son, about ten a clock att night.

Apr 27 Mr. Belsher, ye minister of Dedham, dyed att Roxbury, and buryedat Dedham ye 1 of May.

May 3 Brother Holebrook came, and went to Newbery and settled his son's business after his death, and returned home again ye 21 day (see Apr.14)

May 5 Mr. Downs came home from England.

May 10 Mr. Scutts came home from England and brought me files for a
piece of eight, 14 1/2cc and 1/2 hand saw.

May 25 Madam Usher dyed on ye 25 and was carried hence on ye 30 to
Brantry, and buryed there by her first husband Hoar.  She was embalmed.

May 30 Singing lecture Dr. Cotton Mather preached ye 2nd. time att that
lecture.  Mr. Coleman preached ye Election, and Mr. Foxcroft ye
Artillery.

Jun 4 Quartter night at Deacon Williams.  Mr.  Coleman preacht from
Psalms, "Ye Lord is good to all, and his tender merceys are over all his
works."  39 pound was gathered.  I took for 4, namely: Lerey,
Willoughby, Croxford, and Keyes, 9 s a peece.

Jun 7 About ye 7 & 8 day Mrs. Mecarty and her daughter Catte dyed, and buryed together on ye 10 day.  About this time John Bassett and his son
came.

Jun 9 John Leach begins to look after ye boys, he being ye last of ye 12
but myself.

Jun 29 Mr. Walldron came home.

Jul 3 Went to Commencement.

Jul 4 Ye negro Dago hanged for fiering Mr. Powell's house, and Mr.
Cooper preacht ye lecture oon that occation, from Job 7 & 20.

Jul 7 Took my turn again to look after ye boys.

Jul 19 26 pirattes hanged at Roadiland, 2 reprieved for a year and 8
cleared.

July 30 A fast at the North Church on ye account of calling a minister.

Aug 4 Mrs. Melven buryed and Vrin's child.

Aug 7 2 houses burnt att Shrewsbury and 5 persons burnt in one by
accident (House of Capt. John Keyes).

Aug 11 Mrs. Hunt buryed, she dyed ye 9, at 9 in ye morning.

Aug 22 Mr. Cragehead carried my leltter & Mr. Watson on Contentment toAbigail (Abigail is his sister who is married to Lambert).

Aug 23 Dr. Increase Mather dyed, about noon; on ye 29 he was buryed, & a vast number att his funeral; his under bearers 12 of his church; ye 6
paullholders, Lieut. Governor Judg Sewall, ye president Leveritt, Mr.
Thatcher of Milton, Mr. Wadsworth, & Mr. Colman.

Aug 31 Old Mrs. Williams dyed, ye grave digger's widow.  This month
about 60 Mohawks came to Boston, and entertained at Mr. Usher's house in ye Common.

Sep 1 Quarter night at Deacon Williams'  house.  Mr. Thacher, from ye
north, preacht from Mathew 25th, 34, 35.  They gathered 46-2-7.  I took
for 4 viz: Keyes, Croxford, Lerey, & Willoughby, 10 s a peece.  About 90 nominatted perons.  Thomas Wheler took his turn.

Sep 5 Mr. Walldron came home from Cancio, & his vessell seized.
Sep 9 General training afternoon.  Ye 4 trainings this year were on ye
9, 16, 23, 24 days.

Sep 12 Brother Lambert came (this would be his sister Abigail's
husband).

Sep 19 Mr. Hide and his wife came, & on ye 28, went home from hence.

Sep 26 Singing lecture att ye schoolhouse, & Mr. Tuffts preacht, from
psalms 95 & 7.
Sep 29 Solomon Kneeland took his turn to look after ye boys 3 Sabbaths &a fast day.
Oct 2 John Basett dyed att Norwich.

Oct 3 Brother Lambert, Mr. Mirick, & Cuzen Driscoll, went hence for New London.

Oct 5 Dinsdall, ye bellringer at ye Old South dyed, & buryed ye 8 day.

Oct 8 A fast at ye new Brick, on ye account of ye Rising generation.
Forenoon Mr. Sewall prayed, Mr. Walldron preacht and concluded.
Afternoon Dr. Mather prayed, Mr. Wadsworth preacht from Ezekiel 36 and 27 and Mr. Prince concluded, K& sang ye last part of 22 psalm.  Quarter night at Cunninghams.   4-10 gathered.  I had for Mr. Eatton 7 s 6 d.

Oct 17 A General fast.  Mr. Hatherly was drowned in ye Mill Creek,
supposed to be in a canoe in ye night.  On ye 26 in ye morning found. On
ye 20 Mr. Gridly took his turn to look afteer ye boys.

Nov 17 I stood in to look after ye boys, Mr. Scolly failing.

Nov 23 Old Mr. Cotta Buryed.

Nov 24 Mr. Dupe, ye Sadler took ye oversight of ye boys.

Nov 25 I paid Jonathan Seavers for 3 barrills of sider att 10-1-10.

Nov 28 A General thanksgiving.

Nov 30 Young Smith the barber, dyed.  Brother Hollbrook went home.
Dec 1 Quarter night at Deacoon Williams', Mr. Sewall preacht from
Proverbs 29 chapt., 17 verse; 64 pound gathered...the largest gathering
that had bin.  About 108 persons nominated. 11 s a peece I took, for 4,
viz: Lery, Willoughby, Croxford, and Keyes.

Dec 5 On ye 5 dyed Ezekel Walker, of ye Jaundize, about 7 weeks sick,
and Thos. Cottlesl wife about the same time dyed.

Dec 15 Linnum's wife dyed by a blow on her breast from a man scuffling
with her husband.

Dec 18 Mr. Josha Gee ordained at ye Old North Church.  Ye Dr. rayed.
Mr. Gee preached from 2 Cor. 5 ch. 14 verse, first part.
Then Mr. Wadsworth, Mr. Coleman, Mr. Walker, Mr. Sewall laying on ye hands.  Mr. Walker gave ye Right hand.

Dec 25 Mr. Willis had 8-9 for mending ye house & ye floor in Mr.
Scutses, beside ye shingles was found.

Dec 26 I received of Mr. Miers, at ye north, a round piece of
Spechelwood, about 12 foot long and about 4 inches through.
