Thomas GOODENOW was born
about 1636/37 in Dunhead, St. Andrew, Wilts, Eng. (1198)
Nellie Palmer George Genealogy: As with so many of the early colonies during the Indian
warfare, Sudbury was, as well, beseiged by Indian attack. Thomas's grand daughter was yet
another victim. She and a Mrs. Fay, while gathering herbs in a meadow, were surprised by a
party of 24 Indinans. Mrs. Fay succeeded in making it to the fort, however, Mary Goodnow,
who was a cripple, could not escape. She was scalped and her body found within sight of
the garrison. A company marched in pursuit--found the Indians--as well as little Mary
Goodnow's scalp. Parents: Thomas A. GOODENOW and Ursala (Ussilah) FAYME (HAYNES?) .
He was married to Jane UNKNOWN before 1638. (1199) Children were: Abigail GOODENOW.

conjectural, but a companion emigrant on the ship was Walter Haines, who along with How,
Goodnow, et all were the original settlers of Sudbury, MA. Whether she was sister, dau or

note that in the Early records of Boston for Roxbury, NEHG 6:183, a Thomas Harris servant
to John Johnson died 2/7/1640. This is not Thomas, Daniel's brother, who is alive in 1688,
being named in Stetson's will, but rather, perhaps an earlier relative. Is it possibly
Elizabeth's husband, she outliving him by nearly a half a century?
Children were: Daniel HARRIS.
